6 Skills When Considering a DJ Emcee for Your Wedding
[1] PERSONALITY – One of the most important skills that you should require from your “DJ/Emcee” is someone who can speak crisp, clear announcements, and communicates to your guests and vendors with a positive attitude and a smile.
Here are two voice-overs by DJ Carl©:
(1) Rock music couples [LISTEN]
(2) Hip-Hop music couples [LISTEN]
[2] ANNOUNCEMENTS – It is important that your DJ emcee can pronounce names correctly [LISTEN] as indicated earlier. When you speak or meet with your DJ emcee, ask them to vocalize how they would announce your wedding party introductions [LISTEN]
DJ Carl© spends hours strategizing and preparing with clients before the wedding so that they are provided with the most balanced experience for their event.

[3] INTERACTION – Your extended family is meeting the other half of the family for the very first time at your wedding. The family may come from a different community, culture or speak a different language.
Ensure that your DJ emcee can interact with your various guests. Interaction does not mean getting out and showing line dances. A talented and experienced wedding planner DJ can find energetic individuals [LISTEN] within the crowd who love to dance and can lead your group.
Another technique is to communicate to the guests to show their love [LISTEN] for the bride and groom to have a good time by getting up to dance with the married couple. Ballads can also help break the ice. When it comes to interaction, your DJ emcee needs to have professioanl experience in reading your guests’ behaviors.
[4] MUSIC KNOWLEDGE – Every DJ emcee must have complete music knowledge. As families are becoming more diverse, it is important that your wedding DJ knows the most popular songs from multiple genres to play at your wedding. If you hear from a broker DJ company that they have many DJs that specialize in specific music genres, then you may need to continue your DJ search. Celebrity DJ Carl© will play the right music at the right time for any family guaranteed.
[5] FLEXIBILITY – People are complicated. Sometimes they will not dance at your wedding because (1) it’s very early, (2) there is no alcohol, (3) there may not be a designated dance floor area, (4) they are from a culture that does not allow public dancing, (5) or they just do not get along.
Whatever the reason, your DJ emcee should ask for requests and be able to play the best wedding songs required that will appeal to most of your guests. Sometimes a DJ emcee has to have good judgment not to play a song which may be offensive to other guests.
Some songs are only meant for radio and will not excite individuals to dance at your wedding. Your wedding DJ has to be smart and flexible. S/he should be prepared, but must be open to real-time advice and requests with a big smile.

[6] MANAGEMENT – One of the biggest aspects of successful weddings is not the (1) gobo, (2) LED lighting or (3) photobooth. These products can add the “WOW factor” to your wedding, but your DJ emcee must have the (1) experience, (2) good judgement, and (3) professionalism to manage your wedding activities [READ] well.
Ensure your DJ emcee can run your event from strategy to execution providing a balanced mix of music, communications, and flow for your guests and the other professional vendors. Good Luck!
